General IM+ Questions

1. When I purchase a licence for IM+, is it one-time fee?
2. I have purchased IM+, but application tells me that it is in trial. What should I do?

1. When I purchase a licence for IM+, is it one-time fee?

Yes, it is one-time fee. All further updates are also free.

2. I have purchased IM+, but application tells me that it is in trial. What should I do?

All applications have trial period and become full commercial products after user registers them by inserting the license code in special field. So you needn't to download any file one more time. Just register IM+ with licence you have received after purchase.


3. I want to upgrade my version of IM+ to the latest. How can I do it?

You can always find the newest products version on both our WEB and WAP sites and download them without additional payment.
If you are going to upgrade to the newer version, please make sure you have exited the application correctly. Select ‘Disconnect and exit’ from the Menu before starting the upgrade.

If you are a Pocket PC user:

  • Remove the previous IM+ version. During the removing you will be asked if you would like to save settings. Check "Yes".

If you are a Palm user:

  • If the current IM+ version number is above 2.6, just download it over the previouse one. You don't need to reinstall the old version.
  • If the current IM+ version number is less than 2.6 please uninstall your current IM+ version first:
    1. Open application launcher.
    2. Go to Menu->Delete.
    3. Find IM+ file and delete it. If some glitch appears when deleting the file, make a soft-reset of your device and try once again.

If you are a Windows Smartphone user, download the new IM+ version over the previous one.

4. How do I register IM+? How can I get a license code?

When you purchase IM+ from our WEB or WAP site, you get an e-mail from SHAPE Services, which includes the lifetime license code to register the application. Please be sure to check your SPAM or JUNK folder, if you cannot locate the e-mail in your inbox.

5. I haven't got the license code from you yet!

The e-mail could be blocked by your spam filters. Please check your "Spam" folder. If you haven't found it, please fill out the support form and specify the online shop where you have purchased our software and what e-mail address you have used during checkout process.

6. I was never able to connect to the AIM®/iChat, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, Jabber or Google Talk network. Am I doing something wrong?

Maybe your account was not correctly created from PC or is not correctly configured. Use the correct settings or try to use our test accounts.

Pocket PC
1. How to install IM+ to my Pocket PC ?
2. I am using IM+ for Pocket PC on Treo 700w. When my Treo's screen becomes black, IM+ disconnects.

1. How to install IM+ to my Pocket PC ?

There are two ways to install IM+ for Pocket PC:

  1. Download .exe file;
  2. You need Microsoft ActiveSync to be installed on your desktop computer;
  3. Connect your mobile device to your desktop computer;
  4. Start the installation program;
  5. Confirm the request of the installation program to install «SHAPE Services IM+» with «yes»;
  6. You can select the language for user interface on your Pocket PC while Setup the program;
  7. Installation is finished.

This way is recommended. If you have problems installing IM+ this way, please try the second method:

  1. Download .cab file to your desktop from SHAPE Services WEB site or from the home page of the WAP site. Do not extract files from CAB archive!
  2. Connect your Pocket PC to your desktop.
  3. Open "My Pocket PC" folder using Active Sync.
  4. Move this .cab file to "My Pocket PC" folder (drag&drop).
  5. Then open "My Pocket PC" folder from your PPC.
  6. Click on this .cab file. Installation will start.

NOTE: You can also download your .cab file directly to your Pocket PC.

2. I am using IM+ for Pocket PC on Treo 700w. When my Treo's screen becomes black, IM+ disconnects.

To save battery power the screen of your Treo 700w turns of automatically after one minute. If you want the screen to stay on longer, you can adjust the shutoff setting. Press Start, select the System tab, and then select Power. Select the Advanced tab, and then increase the On battery power setting to maximum.



PalmOS
1. How do I install IM+ for Palm OS?
2. I am about to switch my Palm to another device (phone). Do I have to purchase another license code?

1. How do I install IM+ for Palm OS?

You can download IM+ for Palm OS from our WEB or WAP sites.

  1. Connect your Palm device to the PC.
  2. Open Palm Desktop (application for transferring files to Palm), and transfer the *.prc file to your Palm.
  3. Run the *.prc file from archive using HotSync (Palm system utility) on your Palm and proceed with installation.
  4. IM+ icon appears among other application icons on your device.
  5. The installation process is finished. You can start working with IM+ now.

Tip: Please save the installation file in your phone memory but not on your SD card.

2. I am about to switch my Palm to another device (phone). Do I have to purchase another license code?

If you exchange your device, you can transfer your license to your Symbian or Java device or Windows Mobile Smartphone for free. If you exchange your device for Pocket PC or Blackberry, you can also transfer your license code after covering the price difference ($10 if you change it to Pocket PC and $20 if you change it to Blackberry). In both cases just fill out the support form and denote your new mobile device model, the license code for IM+ for Palm and we will process your request ASAP.



Windows Mobile Smartphones

1. How to install IM+ to my Windows Mobile Smartphone?

There are 3 ways to install IM+ for Smartphones:

  • Download .cab file directly to your Smartphone from the SHAPE Services' WAP site.
  • Download .exe file to your desktop PC:
    1. You need Microsoft ActiveSync to be installed on your desktop computer.
    2. Connect your mobile device to your desktop computer.
    3. Start the installation program.
    4. Confirm the request of the installation program to install "Shape Services IM+" with "yes".
    5. You can select the language for user interface on your Smartphone while Setup the program.
    6. Installation is finished.

    This way is recommended.

  • If you have problems installing IM+ this way, please try another method: download .cab file to your desktop PC. Do not extract files from CAB archive.
    1. Connect your Smartphone to your desktop.
    2. Open "My SmartPhone" folder using Active Sync.
    3. Move this .cab file to "My SmartPhone" folder (drag&drop).
    4. Then open "My SmartPhone" folder from your Smartphone.
    5. Click on this .cab file. Installation will start.

2. I have problems using IM+ on my Cingular Blackjack.

Please use the following TCP/IP settings on your phone:
APN: isp.cingular
Username: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
If they do not work for you, please contact Cingular and ask them which data plan allows TCP/IP connection, for example, DTCNUNL data plan.
